Case against 18 people including former home minister

ist ATM Turab was shot dead by the police in Sylhet on July 19 during the students' movement. A month after the incident, the brother of the deceased, Abul Ahsan Md. Azraf (Zabur) filed the case as the plaintiff.

He filed this case in Sylhet Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Monday (August 19). Former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Kamal has been made the main accused in the case. 18 people including the police have been named as accused in the statement. 200 to 250 people have been identified as unknown accused.

After the hearing, the court ordered to file an FIR in the case.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Crime North) has been accused in the case. Sadek Dastgir Kausar, Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police Azbahar Ali Sheikh, Assistant Commissioner (Kotwali) Mizanur Rahman and many others.

It is mentioned in the declaration that the Awami League miscreants supported by the dictatorial Hasina government and the amateur police and miscreants of the illegal government have committed the heinous incidents. Accused in a completely planned alliance, the innocent younger brother of the plaintiff, journalist Abu Taher Md. Killed Turab. Two influential accused threatened to kill the plaintiff when he tried to file a case in this incident. Later, the defendants misused state influence and power and took the plaintiff to Dhaka to meet the former prime minister.

On July 19 (Friday) after Friday prayers, ist Turab was shot dead by the police during a clash between the BNP and the police in the Collectorate Jame Masjid area of ​​Sylhet's Bandarbazar area. Five days after the murder, Turab's family filed a complaint against 8-10 policemen at the Kotwali police station. However, the police did not accept it as a case.

The police said at that time that a case has already been filed on their behalf against 34 people of BNP and Jamaat against hundreds of unknown people. As a result, they recorded the complaint filed by Turab's brother as a general diary. However, it was later learned that the police statement did not mention the issue of shooting death. Apart from this, the police have not arrested anyone in this case. Therefore Turab's family was forced to approach the court.

Meanwhile, court point in Bandarbazar was declared as Martyr ist ATM Turab Chatter last Thursday afternoon. In the presence of Sylhet's representative journalist organization leaders, political leaders and anti-discrimination student movement leaders, the banner was officially named 'Turab Chatwar'.
