A case of contempt of court has been filed against 7 judges including former Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, former Chief Justice Hasan Faiz Siddiqui and former Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan.
Today (Wednesday), the lawyer of the Supreme Court, Advocate Yunus Ali Akand filed this case in the relevant branch of the High Court.
The other four former judges of the Appellate Division in the contempt of court case are Syed Iman Ali, Mirza Hussain Haider, Abu Bakar Siddiqui and Mohammad Nuruzzaman.
The plaintiff alleged that on September 27, 2020, the judges abused their power and punished Supreme Court lawyer Yunus Ali Akand without giving him an opportunity to be heard in violation of the law of contempt of court.
At that time, he was barred from prosecuting the case for three months, which is outside the jurisdiction of the Appellate Division.
