Change of contracting company of Yamuna Bridge, saving 15 crore taka

The contractor for the toll collection and management of the country's second largest Yamuna bridge has changed. After calling for tenders, China Road and Bridge Corporation Company, as the lowest bidder, got the responsibility of collecting and managing the toll of the bridge for 5 years by saving 20.21 percent of the estimated price.

Yesterday, Sunday, their working day started from 12 midnight. On the first day of the working day, it was decided to increase the system from one booth of Fast Track to 7 booths to allow the vehicles to pass quickly. Bangladesh Bridge Authority Director (Finance and Accounts) Altaf Hossain Sekh confirmed the matter.

Bangladesh Bridge Authority officials visited the Yamuna Bridge after appointing a new contractor.

The estimated cost of the bridge was 74 crore 75 lakh 29 thousand 621 taka. The contractor company as the lowest bidder awarded the tender at the price of Tk 59 crore 63 lakh 96 thousand 504. This will save Bangladesh government 15 crore 11 lakh 33 thousand 117 taka from the estimated price.

The new contractor will handle toll collection and other activities with its own manpower.
