A collision occurred between two foreign ships after the anchor slipped in the outer anchorage of Chittagong port. However, the port authorities said that there was no major damage in the incident.
It is known that the Panama-flagged bulk carrier MV Navios Chelester lost its anchor and collided with another Liberian-flagged bulk carrier MV Friendly Island. The incident took place on Saturday (September 7) around four o'clock in the afternoon.
In this regard, the port secretary said. Omar Farooq said the two ships suffered minor structural damage due to the collision. The anchor position of the two ships has changed. At present two ships are safely anchored. The local agent of both the ships, P&I, has already been appointed to settle the issue, he said.
