Clash between two sides of Awami League in Munshiganj, 7 injured with bullet wounds


There have been frequent clashes between the two sides of the Awami League in Munshiganj based on the expansion of dominance. At least seven people were injured, including one shot. In the retaliatory attack, several houses were vandalized, various goods including cash and gold ornaments were reported to have been looted.

On Tuesday (April 16) in Mollakandi Union of Sadar, this clash took place from 12:30 pm to afternoon. At that time, cocktail explosions and random firing spread panic in several villages.

According to the police and eyewitnesses, this clash occurred due to territorial disputes between the followers of Mollakandi Union Parishad chairman Ripon Hossain Patwari's Bahadur Mia and UP member Dolly Begum group along with former Union Parishad chairman Mohsina Haque Kalpana's Babu Kazi, Shaukat and UP member Suma group. happens

There was tension between the two sides since morning. At that time, there was an allegation that Babu Kazi of Gabua Bari area attacked the marriage house and looted cash along with ornaments.

After that, at one point around 12:30 pm, both sides got involved in a chase. Tension spread in Dhalikandi, Munshikandi and North Beherkandi villages of the Union as several rounds of chase and counter-chase continued.

During this time both sides opened fire and exploded cocktails. At least seven people, including one shot, were seriously injured.

Among the injured, Sifat (20) who was shot and Ambia Khatun (60), who was seriously injured in the cocktail explosion, was referred to Dhaka from Munshiganj General Hospital in a critical condition by the doctors.

After receiving the information, the police went to the spot and brought the situation under control. Additional police have been deployed at the spot to prevent violence.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Munshiganj Sadar Police Station Aminul Islam said that the conflict between the two groups of the local Awami League turned into a clash based on the spread of dominance. The situation is now under control.

Before this, in the morning of April 12, one person was shot dead in a clash between two sides of Awami League over dominance in Chhota Mollakandi Chardumuria village of Charkewar Union of Sadar Upazila. Apart from this, six others were injured, including one who was shot.
