Contractual appointment of Masood Bin Momen as Foreign Secretary has been cancelled. Ambassador to China Jasim Uddin may be appointed as the new foreign secretary.
On Sunday (September 1), he was sent off in an informal ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Masood bin Momen's contractual appointment has been cancelled. His two-year contract was due to expire in December this year.
On December 31, 2019, Masood bin Momen took over as the country's 26th foreign secretary. He was due to go on post-retirement leave in December 2022. However, the then government appointed him as Senior Secretary on contractual basis for another two years.
