Crime must be punished: who

No matter how influential a criminal is, the government sees him as a criminal. The government does not give prosecution to any criminal. Judiciary is independent, so offenders must be punished according to existing laws.

Obaidul Quader, the general secretary of the party, said these things in a press conference at the Awami League office on Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital on Friday morning.

Referring to the murder of BUET student Abrar Farhad and old Dhaka tailor Biswajit, Kader said that those who have been punished in Abrar's murder are all members of the Chhatra League. Again, the government could not provide protection to those who were hanged in Biswajit's murder. Individuals can commit crimes. The question is whether the government is providing protection or not. Sheikh Hasina government has zero tolerance here. He must be punished if he commits a crime.

Meanwhile, the United States has recently imposed sanctions against the former Bangladesh army chief, General Aziz Ahmed, accusing him of corruption. On the other hand, the court has ordered the seizure and blocking of 109 acres of 62.46 percent land belonging to the former Chief of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed and his family.

In this context, Kader said, no matter how influential a person is, the judiciary, ACC is independent. If someone is found guilty there, we are not going to protect him. The government has no intention of giving protection to anyone, be it an ex-IGP or an ex-army chief.

Awami League General Secretary commented that the health condition of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul has reached a terrible trauma. Said, their 'friends' do not encourage them as before. BNP's dream of 'friends' being in power has also vanished like camphor.

Noting that no innocent people were harassed during the Awami League government, he said that only those involved in murder, terrorism and arson were arrested.

Obaidul Quader commented that the state of BNP is 'like a wayward traveler without power, so they are talking carelessly'. That is why the Prime Minister and the government are being talked about in dirty language through social media.

Pointing out that Awami League has gained power, it has not occupied it, the bridge minister said, the whole world knows that Awami League has come to power with the people's vote. Many criticized before the election. But after the election they congratulated. Even world leaders including US President Biden have expressed their commitment to work with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nashim, Organizing Secretary Ahmad Hossain, BM Mozammel Haque, Sujit Roy Nandi, Office Secretary Biplab Barua, Publicity and Publication Affairs Abdus Sobhan Golap, Liberation War Affairs Secretary Mrinal Kanti Das, Deputy Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary Abdul Awal Shamim, Deputy Secretary Sayem Khan, Executive Member Marufa Akhtar Popi and Nirmal Chartazi were present.
