Cyclone 'Asana' approaching the coast

Cyclone 'Asana' created in the Arabian Sea is approaching the coast. The cyclone will hit the coast of India's western state of Gujarat in the next 24 hours, the country's Central Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its latest forecast.

The cyclone has been named 'Asna'. Pakistan, another country on the shores of the Arabian Sea, has given this name. Apart from Gujarat, Pakistan's southeastern province of Sindh will also be hit by 'Asna', the country's meteorological department said.

It is currently 250 km off the west coast of Nalia city in Gujarat, 160 km off the coast of Pakistan's Karachi and 350 km off the coast of Pasni in Balochistan, according to the IMD's latest forecast on Saturday. At present 'Asana' is moving at a speed of 14 km per hour.

Meanwhile, under the influence of 'Asana', heavy rains have started in Gujarat's Jamnagar, Surat, Porbandar, Morbi, Swarka and Kutch districts since last Wednesday night. Floods have occurred in many areas of these districts due to heavy rains.
