DB Harun has built a mountain of huge wealth

Former additional commissioner of DMP and former head of Metropolitan DB Mohammad Haroon Or Rashid. But he is known as DB Harun. He is discussed and criticized for various reasons. Since the beginning of the service, wherever he has performed his duties, he has been involved in various irregularities. He was involved in fraud and debauchery at every step but was never punished. Got promoted year by year, posted in all important units.

DB Harun has stolen thousands of crores of rupees through irregularities and corruption. He owns properties and owns at least three resorts in different areas of the country including Uttara, Gazipur and Kishoreganj in the capital. There are several residential hotels. He owns at least 10 other companies. Alishan has more than two dozen homes in Dhaka alone. Apart from this there are innumerable plots and flats.

Haroon's multi-storied houses, flats and plots have been found in the capital's Uttara. Out of which there is a 6 storied luxury house on Road No. 20 (Lakepar Road) in Sector No. 3. The house named 'Park Lake View' is holding number-30. It is used as a guest house. Haroon has another 8-storey house at the head of the same road. The family lived on the fourth floor of this house. He has not visited that house since the political change. A 10 storey market on 10 khata area at holding number-5 of road number 7 of sector 3. This is done in the name of Aaron's father-in-law. The estimated market value of this building with the land at the intersection of four roads is over one hundred million rupees. A 6 storey house at No. 21, Sonargaon Janpath Road, Sector No. 12. A loan has been taken from Shahjalal Islami Bank by keeping this house as mortgage.

Harun is the owner of Plot No. 12 in Shah Makhdoom Avenue, Sector No. 13. There are a few shops for rent including the Taj Food Court. A plot of holding No. 79 of Sonargaon Janpath Road in the same sector is leased to a person named Judge Mia. Apart from this, 14-storey commercial building in holding No. 23 of Road No. 15 in Sector No. 3, 6-storey building in house No. 49 of Road No. 3 in Sector No. 13, 7-storey commercial plot in Holding No. 1 of Road No. 9 of Sector No. 3, 39 of Road No. 11 in Sector No. 10. Harun owns a plot of 5 katha in holding No. 5 and two plots of 10 katha in holding no.

One of the last two plots is a tin shed house for rent and the other is a godown. Plot No. 17 and No. 19 of Road No. 20 of Sector No. 14 are rented as showrooms for four companies. The office of said uncle Jahangir is on the 5th floor of house number 4, road number 12, sector number 10. Sources close to Jahangir said that all the property documents of Harun are kept in this office.

Harun sold plot number 14 of road number 9 of Uttara sector number 3 to a person named Hiron for 32 crore rupees. Plot No. 41 of Sector 3, Former No. 9 Road, Rabindra Sarani, Plot No. 7 Katha, is rented for Tk. 14 lakhs per month. Next to Uttara Smriti Cable TV Limited in sector number 11, another plot of 5 katha is rented to a company named 'Star Car Selection'. Apart from this, Harun has dozens of flats in Sector 13, next to Jam Tower, Uttara Third Face, Purbachal.

Harun sold a plot of 20 trees on the south side of Banani cemetery to a company for Tk 70 crore. A company named 'JH-Geotex Limited' is being constructed without any permission on 8 bigha land in Tongir Satish Mouza. A residential hotel is being built on a 12 bigha land within Chhayakunj-5 residential project at Gushulia Mauza in Tongir.

Dredgers have already filled the soil here. It is marked inside the tongue. There is an allegation that Harun was in a relationship with land robber Kamruzzaman alias Kamrul alias Mauchcha Kamrul of that area while he was the Superintendent of Police of Gazipur. This Superintendent of Police was the protector of Kamrul land robbery.

Police officer Harun-or-Rashid's personal number was repeatedly called for several days to inquire about these allegations, but it was found to be closed.

His alleged uncle Jahangir's mobile number was also found to be switched off. Last Saturday Jahangir's office and residence in Uttara was not found. Ifatul, the security guard of the house, told the media that Mr. Jahangir used to live in a flat here. Sir does not come here for two weeks. None of his family is here now.

The Executive Director of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) Dr. Iftekharuzzaman told the media that his legitimate income as a police officer or government official is disproportionate to his wealth. The wealth he has acquired at home and abroad is through corruption and abuse of power. He misused the power he had as an intelligence officer. They were given extraordinary powers in violation of the Constitution. He built this wealth using that. And there is no chance to think that he made this property alone. He has many accomplices and helpers. Now there needs to be a proper investigation and those involved need to be held accountable.
