Two more policemen have been identified in the video of the police piling dead bodies in a van in front of the Ashulia police station in Savar, Dhaka, after a video went viral on social media. Earlier, Dhaka District North Intelligence Police Inspector (Investigation) Arafat Hossain and DB Constable Rezaul Karim were identified.
Several policemen of Ashulia police station identified the two people on Tuesday (September 3) afternoon. Besides, they have similarities with previous pictures. Several policemen are seen in the video but 4 policemen are clearly visible.
They are β Inspector (Investigation) of Dhaka District North Detective (DB) Police Arafat, DB Constable Rezaul Karim, Ashulia Police Station Assistant Sub-Inspector Biswajit Roy and Constable Mukul. However, Abul Hasan claimed that SI Abul Hasan's name has been used in the picture of Constable Mukul and circulated on social media and mass media.
Last Friday (August 30), a video of a pile of dead bodies in a van went viral on social media. The video is initially believed to have been captured from the second floor of the building in front of the Ashulia police station. It has been confirmed by looking at the walls, posters and the scene. In the video, some policemen are seen piling up the bodies. Two more policemen have been identified among them.
In the 1 minute 14 second video that went viral, two policemen are seen throwing one arm and one leg into the van. Before that, they piled the bodies in the van and covered them with cloth. Finally the body is lifted and covered with a banner. At the end, Inspector (Investigation) of Dhaka District North Detective (DB) Police Arafat, Assistant Sub-Inspector of Ashulia Thana Biswajit Roy and Constable Mukul were seen. At 1 minute 6 seconds of the video, a poster can be seen, which is the name of Abul Hossain, the Dhamsona Union President candidate of the local Jubo League and member candidate of Ward No. 7. By looking at that poster, it is confirmed that the scene of the video is in front of the Ashulia police station.
A few policemen who did not want to be named said that Dhaka District North Detective (DB) Police Inspector (Investigation) Arafat, Ashulia Police Station Assistant Sub-Inspector Biswajit Roy and Constable Mukul were identified in the video. They also said that SI Abul Hasan's name was used in Mukul's picture on social media.
Ashulia Police Station Assistant Sub-Inspector Biswajit and Constable Mukul could not be contacted in this regard. However, SI Abul Hasan said, I left duty on the night of August 4 and went home in the morning. I was not on duty on the 5th.
In this regard, Dhaka District Police Superintendent Ahmed Mueed said, I have seen the viral video on social media. It is being analyzed. At the same time, a 4-member investigation committee has been formed. Some people involved in the murder have also been identified. We will present them to everyone shortly.
Incidentally, the anti-discrimination quota activists started gathering at the bypile area of ββthe Nabinagar-Chandra highway on August 5. Later on the news of Sheikh Hasina leaving the country, the agitators moved towards Ashulia police station. At that time, the police fired at the protesters. In this incident, 28 people died in Ashulia from August 5 to August 6 (excluding the bodies taken in the van).
