Death of Assistant Presiding Officer while on duty

An assistant presiding officer who was in charge of polling in Chandpur's Matlab Uttar Upazila Parishad election has died. His name is Mohammad Noor Uddin (55). Yesterday Tuesday (May 7) around 12 o'clock in the night he fell ill at the polling station of Hanirpar Government Primary School number 42 of the upazila. He later died at the hospital.

Mohammad Noor Uddin was the head teacher of Shatanal Bazar Government Primary School number 11 of Upazila. He was responsible as assistant presiding officer for polling at Hanirpar Government Primary School No. 42 polling station in Upazila Parishad election held from Wednesday (May 8) morning.

Matlab North Upazila Election Officer and Assistant Returning Officer Abu Taher said that a new assistant presiding officer has been appointed in his place at the polling station last night. Voting started on time on Wednesday (May 8) morning.

According to upazila election office and local sources, assistant presiding officer Mohammad Noor Uddin was taking care of the preparation of Hanirpar government primary school polling station number 42 of the upazila around 9 pm on Tuesday (May 7). At around 12 o'clock in the night he felt severe pain in his chest. He lost consciousness after vomiting several times. When some of his colleagues and family members took Mohammad Noor Uddin to the Upazila Health Complex in critical condition, the doctor declared him dead. Family members believe that he died of a heart attack. His body was buried in the family graveyard in Shatanal village in the morning.
