7 people were injured and burnt in a steel mill explosion in Demra Bansherpool area of the capital. The accident happened at Zaheer Steel and Ruling Mill around 9:30 pm on Saturday.
The injured are Tariqul Islam (32), Sujan (25), Aminul Islam (25), Roni (30), Kanchan (28), Dipan Das (30) and Shafiqul Islam (27). Immediately after the incident, they were rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute.
The supervisor of the steel mill brought them to the hospital. Shakib Khan said that at night there was a fault in a machine called steel mill gear. That is why the mechanical team of the seven men was starting to repair the machine. At this time, the gear machine exploded. Seven people present there were injured and burnt.
Injured mechanical shift in-charge Tariqul Islam said that he and his team were opening the machine called gear. At this time the device exploded due to overheating. Being very close, he and another person named Sujan were injured in the chest and hands. And the body of the rest who were standing a little bit away were blasted with hot air.
According to the doctor in charge of the police camp of DMK Hospital. Bachchu Mia said, three injured are being treated at Dhaka Medical and the remaining four are being treated at the Burn Institute. However, their condition is safe. The incident was reported to Demra police station.
