This information was revealed in the press release of the Health and Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Department of Health on Wednesday. It is said that in the last 24 hours (from 8 am yesterday to 8 am today), 296 people have been admitted to different hospitals in the country with dengue. At this time, 286 people were discharged from the hospital.

The circular also said that in the last 24 hours, the maximum number of 95 patients with dengue have been admitted to different hospitals of Chittagong Division. On the other hand, 72 dengue patients have been admitted in Dhaka South City Corporation area hospital, 42 in North City Corporation area hospital, 29 in various Khulna hospitals, 28 in Barisal hospital and 7 in Mymensingh hospital and 6 in Rajshahi and Rangpur hospitals.

From last January till this morning, 10 thousand 361 people have been admitted to the hospital due to dengue in the country. Among the affected people, 61.2 percent are men and 38.8 percent are women.

Meanwhile, 76 people have died due to dengue this year. 51.3 percent of them are women and 48.7 percent are men. During this time, the maximum number of 47 people died in the hospital of Dhaka South City Corporation area.

The first large-scale outbreak of dengue occurred in the country in 2000. Since then there have been dengue outbreaks every year. 2020 was the exception. Corona epidemic occurred that year. There were few dengue cases in the country, there were no deaths due to dengue as per official. As soon as the corona epidemic did not end, dengue increased again from 2021.

In 2021, the year after the start of the corona epidemic, the number of dengue cases in the country was 28 thousand 428. Among them, 105 people died. The death rate was 0.37. Next year 62 thousand 382 people were infected with dengue. Among them 281 people died. This year the number of infected and dead increased. At the same time the death rate increases. The death rate in 2022 was 0.45.

In 2023, all dengue records were broken. 3 lakh 21 thousand 27 people were infected with dengue. 1 thousand 705 people died among them. Mortality increased to 0.53 percent.
