Dennis Schroder Responds to Kevin Durant’s Diss Following Team USA Gold Medal Victory

The feud between Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant and Brooklyn Nets point guard Dennis Schroder has taken another step forward.

Following the Team USA win over France for the gold medal, Durant made a social media post of the team with the caption “ENTERTAINMENT & IQ”.

The troll from Durant was in response to Schroder commenting about the difference between basketball in Europe and the United States.

“European basketball is no entertainment, it’s straight IQ basketball, straight coaching,” Schröder told reporters. “Really, really high IQ guys who know how to play the game. Serbia, Greece, Spain, France, Germany, so many teams out there who know how to play, is athletic, and I think there’s a lot of people from Europe in the NBA who make some noise.”

To Schroder’s credit, the NBA has seen an influx of international talent. Some of the better players in the league aren’t American-born, including Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

It’s been some time since Durant made the post but Schroder has finally responded. While on a Twitch stream, Schroder called Durant “weak” for the post.

“For me, that’s just being weak. Like you that type of a star and you have to say something to a person like me. Like it was not meant to even be negative, was just what I see from both sides so I didn’t appreciate it. I don’t care but at the end of the day, that tweet or whatever he posted was because of me. And for me, it was never no negative stuff, like I respect all those guys. But to say that tells me how weak he is as a person. It is what it is, not everybody is strong, not everybody is in a good place.”

Over the years, Durant has earned a reputation as a “soft” player for his consistent response to comments online. It seems that other NBA players have taken note of how Schroder reacted to the diss.

While Schroder isn’t a star in the NBA, he has established himself as one of the leaders for Team Germany. He is a star on the international stage, helping lead Germany to the Bronze medal game at the Olympics.

The competition level at the Olympics this year shows that the rest of the world has started to catch up to the United States in terms of team basketball. But in overall talent, Team USA still is on top.

When the Nets and Suns play each other this coming season, it’ll be interesting to see how the two players react toward one another. The first meeting between the two sides is scheduled for Nov.. 27 at the Footprint Center in Phoenix.
