Dhaka Wasa increased the price of water by 10 percent


Dhaka WASA has decided to increase the price of water supplied to homes and offices by 10 percent from July 1.

This information was informed in a circular of Dhaka Wasa Authority on Wednesday (May 29).

It has been said that according to Section 22 of the WASA Act 1996, the price of water has been increased to adjust for inflation. Among them, the price of water per 1000 liters has been fixed at 16 taka 70 paisa for residential customers, which is now 15 taka 18 paisa. For commercial customers, the price of the same amount of water has been fixed at Tk 46 20 paise, which is currently Tk 42.

It further said that this decision will be effective in the case of unmetered holdings, deep tube wells, buildings under construction, all types of (water and sewage) including minimum bills.

Earlier, Dhaka WASA had increased water prices twice in two years during the corona period at residential and commercial level. After the Awami League government took charge in 2009, the price of Dhaka Wasa water increased 16 times in 16 years.
