Dipu Moni arrested from Baridhara

Former Social Welfare Minister Dr. Dipu Moni was arrested from Baridhara DOHS area of ​​the capital by a team of intelligence department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

He was arrested on Monday (August 19) evening.

He said, 'Deepu Moni will be taken to the DB office on Minto Road right now. He will be taken to court tomorrow.'

Earlier, during the anti-discrimination student movement on July 18, Chandpur district BNP president Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik's house was attacked, vandalized, looted and set on fire last Thursday. A case was filed against Dipu Moni. In this case, his elder brother Dr. A case has been filed against 510 named persons including JR Wadud Tipu and 1200 unidentified persons.

It is mentioned in the details of the case that the former Minister of Social Welfare Dr. Dipu Moni and his elder brother Dr. On the direct orders of JR Wadud Tipu, 1,000 to 1200 people attacked and vandalized the house of District BNP President Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik on JM Sengupta Road named Monira Bhawan. Later they set fire to the building and looted the valuables.

Meanwhile on Monday Dipu Moni, her husband Taufeek Nawaz and elder brother Dr. JR Wadud Tipu's bank account has been seized. At the same time, the bank account transactions of the businesses owned by them have been suspended.

Incidentally, since 2008, Dipu Moni was the Member of Parliament for Chandpur-3 Constituency. He also served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Education. He was the social welfare minister of the last outgoing Awami League government.
