BNP nominated candidate of Patuakhali-1 (Sadar-Mirzaganj-Dumki) constituency and former Home Minister Altaf Hossain Chowdhury said, 'They will do politics with bankers and election with contractors. Altaf Hossain Chowdhury said this in an election meeting in the field of Badarpur Shaheed Smriti Secondary School of Sadar Upazila on Wednesday afternoon with some leaders of BNP. A video of his speech has gone viral on social media.

In the meeting, Altaf Hossain Chowdhury said, 'Before getting the nomination, I called district BNP president Snehanshu Sarkar (Kutti), general secretary Mojibur Rahman (Toton), district BNP member and former mayor Mostak Ahmed on phone. After the finalization of the nomination, I contacted them officially. I went to home and office and met and talked with everyone. But the thief does not listen to the story of religion.'

Altaf Hossain Chowdhury also said, 'Now the district BNP is complaining, I am not calling them. I will not invite them to eat. I will call to work in the election. I must first see who is qualified to do what. I have to see that, then they will be given the responsibility. But it is true, those who were at the forefront of BNP's hardships, gave blood, served jail time – the election will be held by them.'

District BNP General Secretary Mojibur Rahman said that there is no truth in his (Altaf Hossain Chowdhury) complaint. He can't even provide any evidence. Party leaders and workers and common people are being misled by this baseless statement.

District BNP president Snehanshu Sarkar said that Altaf Hossain Chowdhury is purposefully undermining the district BNP by involving Ruhul Amin Howladar of Japa. But he himself is invited to Ruhul Amin's relative's house. Giving shelter to Awami League. He is denying the legitimate committee of the district BNP. As he is getting older, he doesn't know what he is talking about. He remained steadfast in party decisions and will remain so in the future.

When contacted, Altaf Hossain Chowdhury said on the phone that he has enough evidence for his statement. He claimed that they did these things.

It should be noted that Altaf Hossain Chowdhury became the Home Minister after being elected as a Member of Parliament from Patuakhali-1 Constituency in the 2001 elections. After that, he got into a conflict with district BNP president Snehanshu Sarkar and former mayor of Patuakhali municipality, Mostak Ahmed. Gradually the conflict increased. District BNP president Snehanshu Sarkar had been jockeying for nomination here for a long time. Later, when Altaf Hossain Chowdhury was nominated, it was announced that the two parties would reconcile and unite. But Altaf Hossain Chowdhury complained in several election meetings that the district BNP is not giving him any support in the elections. Then old conflicts resurfaced.
