Kamala Harris will make history on the final day of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago as she officially accepts the party’s nomination to run for president.
The final night of the DNC convention will be hosted by Kerry Washington, known for her role in Scandal alongside Tony Goldwyn who hosted the DNC earlier in the week. An Emmy winner, Washington has been a vocal advocate for the Democratic Party, supporting Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign and speaking at the DNC in both 2012 and 2020. She also hosted the virtual DNC in 2020.
Pink will be among the performers taking the stage as the final night closes out.
Thursday’s theme is centered on the “For Our Future” element, where the party is set to highlight how the Harris-Walz plans to lead the nation forward.
Harris’ running mate Minnesota Governor Tim Walz stole the show Wednesday night as he officially accepted the vice presidential nomination at the DNC. Among thousands of cheering supporters, his family looked on from the crowd, filled with emotion, including his 17-year-old son, Gus.
Who’s speaking on Day 4
Although an official schedule has yet to be released, more prominent Democrats are expected to speak on the final day of the convention before Harris delivers her remarks to cap Day 4 — and the convention more broadly.

Bill Clinton Pronounces Kamala Harris’ Name Wrong During DNC Speech
Former President Bill Clinton mispronounced Vice President Kamala Harris’ name during his speech in support of her candidacy at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) on Wednesday night.
The pronunciation of Harris’ name has sparked tense debates over the past few weeks after she entered the presidential race following President Joe Biden’s exit. However, the pronunciation of her name, which is “Comma-la,” has been a heated topic for years.
Republicans’ mispronunciation of Harris’ name, including Republican South Carolina Representative Nancy Mace’s heated conversation on a CNN panel last Thursday, has been called out over the years for being part of a racist attack on Harris, the first Black woman and person of South Asian descent to serve as vice president and the Democratic nominee for president.

Clinton Ditches Teleprompter
Bill Clinton is reading not from a teleprompter, but pages of actual paper. Which, for those of us who started covering him in the ’92 campaign, means he didn’t finish his last version of his speech in time to load it on the teleprompter.

Why Bill Clinton Ignored Teleprompter During DNC Speech: ist
A political journalist has weighed in on Bill Clinton’s speech at the Democratic National Convention Wednesday, sharing a theory about why the former president appeared to be referencing notes on paper, rather than reading a teleprompter.
Susan Milligan has covered politics for the New York Daily News and the Boston Globe among others, and was a 2010 fellow at the Institute of Politics at the Harvard Kennedy School.
After Clinton’s speech, she posted on X, formerly Twitter, “Bill Clinton is reading not from a teleprompter, but pages of actual paper. Which, for those of us who started covering him in the ’92 campaign, means he didn’t finish his last version of his speech in time to load it on the teleprompter.”

Bill Clinton, ‘Explainer-in-Chief,’ Lifts Harris and Belittles Trump at DNC
Former President Bill Clinton delivered a speech at the DNC on Wednesday that hailed Kamala Harris “the president of joy,” took aim at Donald Trump’s age, and resumed the role that former President Barack Obama had assigned to him 12 years ago: Explainer-in-Chief.
“If you vote for this team, if you can get them elected and let them bring in this breath of fresh air, you’ll be proud of it for the rest of your life,” Clinton said of the Harris-Walz ticket. “Your children will be proud of it, your grandchildren will be proud of it.”
Obama first gave Clinton the ‘explainer’ nickname after Clinton delivered a blockbuster convention speech in 2012 that helped get Obama re-elected to the White House. In a way that voters understood, Clinton offered a detailed rebuke of Mitt Romney’s economic plans—remarks that would become among some of his most memorable, and that Obama would go onto mention repeatedly at campaign stops that election cycle.

Oprah DNC Speech More Influential Than Michelle Obama: Republican Pollster
Republican pollster Frank Luntz was blown away by Oprah Winfrey’s speech at the Democratic National Convention (DNC), calling her the most influential speaker of the week.
Winfrey made a surprise appearance at the DNC on Wednesday night and gave a speech targeting the GOP presidential ticket of former President Donald Trump and Senator JD Vance while encouraging independents to cast their ballot for Vice President Kamala Harris. Winfrey, a known skilled orator, has been floated as a potential presidential contender, and her speech energized the DNC crowd.
Following Winfrey’s speech, Luntz said that he was “wrong” in thinking former first lady Michelle Obama’s speech on Tuesday would resonate most with voters.
