Videos posted to social media Saturday night showed former President Donald Trump being greeted to a standing ovation as entered UFC 302 in Newark, New Jersey.
The event marked Trump’s first public appearance since Thursday’s verdict in his Manhattan criminal trial. The presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee was found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records relating to a hush money payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels by Trump’s then-lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen shortly before the 2016 presidential election.
Trump entered the cheering Prudential Center Saturday night flanked by UFC president Dana White. Trump entered the arena as Kid Rock’s “American Badass” roared over the speakers.
Shawn McCreesh, a reporter for the New York Times, posted a video to X, formerly Twitter, of fans chanting “[Expletive] Joe Biden” after Trump took his seat. Immediately after, fans chanted “We Love Trump.”
