Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States

Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States. He was sworn in at 11:00 pm Bangladesh time (12:00 pm US time) on Monday.

Earlier, Donald Trump and Joe Biden arrived in the same car from the White House to the Capitol building where the oath was taken.

Republican candidate Donald Trump won the November election last year. Through this, he took office as president for the second time.

The newly departed President Joe Biden was present at this swearing-in ceremony. Apart from this, former presidents Barack Obama, George Bush and Bill Clinton also attended the swearing-in ceremony.

While the swearing-in ceremony has been held on the West Lawn of Capitol Hill for the past few years, this time it was held in the Capitol Rotunda. The event was moved indoors due to inclement weather.

US Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts administered the oath to Trump for the second time. β€œI solemnly swear to faithfully perform the duties of the office of President of the United States and to the best of my ability to protect, preserve, and protect the Constitution of the United States,” Trump said in the oath taken under the first clause of Article II of the U.S. Constitution.

This is the first time in the 132-year history of the United States that a president has won the election after losing the election. Despite various polls predicting a close fight, the Republican candidate is leading by at least 4%. Trump was elected as the 47th President of the United States by receiving a majority of the β€œElectoral College” votes including the total votes received.

He previously served as the US President from 2017 to 2021. Vice-President JD Vance is also being sworn in today. Joe Biden handed over administrative control to Donald Trump through the transfer of power.

Trump's swearing-in ceremony was attended by several top tech figures, including Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg. Outgoing President Joe Biden attended the event. However, Trump was not at Biden's swearing-in ceremony in 2020.
