'Educational institutions will be closed on Saturday after Eid'

Secondary and higher secondary educational institutions will be closed on Saturday after the Eid-ul-Azhar holiday, said Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Naufel.

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at an event organized at Dhaka University (DU) Student Teacher Center (TSC) on Friday (May 24) afternoon. The program was organized on the occasion of Communication Festival by Dhaka University Mass Communication and ism Alumni Association.

The Minister of Education said, we actually have to specify some educational working days throughout the year to achieve learning results. Since many of our readings have not been able to be taught, Saturdays are still open with expert opinions. But it is actually a temporary process. If we get a complete picture of that day, it may not be there after Eid-ul-Azha.

Mahibul Hasan said, but now it appears that there is an outbreak of cyclone and if there is flood and many other challenges then the school will remain closed. If it is closed then it becomes much more difficult to achieve learning outcomes. Not expected to be open on Saturdays. Since some days are wasted. We hope it won't be.

Stating that the SSC exam will not be held in 2026 according to the current rules, the minister said that the final opinion of the expert committee on the new evaluation system has not come, if the opinion comes, the curriculum will be finalized with the new evaluation.

President of Dhaka University Alumni Association Anwarul-ul Alam Chowdhury (Parvez) and Secretary General Mollah Md. Abu Kawchar, Chief Adviser of Mass Communication and ism Alumni Association Professor Sakhawat Ali Khan, Department Chairman Professor Abul Mansoor Ahmed and journalist Syed Ishtiaq Reza spoke. Shamsul Haque, President of Mass Communication and ism Alumni Association presided. The general secretary of the association Mir Masrur Zaman Roni gave the welcome speech.
