Employment of illegal workers in Malaysia, 900 arrested

The Immigration Department of Malaysia has arrested 900 employers for hiring illegal foreign workers. According to related sources, a total of 11,903 raids were conducted in the Immigration Department (JIM) from January to August 16 this year.

Immigration director-general Datuk Ruslin Jusoh said employers are peaking at recruiting illegal migrant workers. A Malaysian cannot employ illegal foreign workers. They should employ legal workers who have favorable immigration permits. But they employ illegal foreign workers. As a result, we have penalized 900 employers.

In a press conference on Monday (August 19), he said the main focus of the immigration department is to identify employers who have committed crimes. Then take decisive action.

The director general said that hiring and harboring illegal migrant workers is a big mistake of employers. Strict action will be taken against them as the immigration department will not compromise on this matter.

The expatriates hope that the Bangladesh High Commission located in Malaysia will take effective measures with the Malaysian government in this regard.
