Even though the rain has subsided, the new area is flooded, the villagers suffer


Due to low rainfall and low rainfall, the water level has started decreasing in some parts of the South-Eastern and North-Eastern regions of the country. However, new areas have been flooded in some districts. Many areas have been left without electricity due to uprooted electricity poles due to water. Volunteers are rescuing flood victims from the affected areas and taking them to shelters.

The water level in Gomti river has decreased slightly in Comilla. However, 50 villages were flooded again on Friday afternoon. At least one and a half million people in these areas are suffering. Seven lakh people of Adarsh ​​Sadar, Chauddagram and Langalkot upazilas have been affected by the flood.

The situation remains unchanged in eight upazilas in Noakhali. Roads and houses were submerged in several feet of water. The administration has distributed more than 500 tons of rice in these places.

Noakhali Deputy Commissioner Dewan Mahbubur Rahman said, 'I urge those staying at the shelter to be patient. Relief efforts are underway at every shelter. Hope we can reach relief in every center through proper coordination.'

In six upazilas of Feni, more than 10 lakh people are stuck in water. At least 50,000 people have been rescued so far. Currently, all areas are without electricity. Various law enforcement agencies including the armed forces and voluntary organizations are conducting relief distribution and rescue operations.

Local volunteers are urging everyone to come forward to help the flood victims. They say, many are in dire need of food, clean water. They should come forward to help.

Due to lack of rain, the water has decreased in Hathazari and Fatikchari of Chittagong. But 70 thousand people have suffered. The situation in Khagarchari is unchanged, hundreds of thousands of people are still stuck in water in Dighinala.

Khagrachari Dighinala upazila executive officer Mamunur Rashid said that 150 to 200 families are trapped due to floods. We have arranged for relief to reach them. Relief distribution is going on in other flood affected areas including Kabakhali and Boalkhali.

The water in Akhaura of Brahmanbaria is decreasing slowly. The water of Khoai river in Habiganj has also reduced a little. However, there are 57 thousand people trapped in water in five upazilas.

Locals say that even if the water recedes, they are not in a condition to go to their homes. Everything was swept away by the flood.

The situation has improved in Kamalganj of Moulvibazar. However, due to the water of Manu River, there is a fear of new flooding in many areas.

9 lakh 46 thousand 769 people of 77 upazilas of 11 districts of the country have been trapped in water due to this terrible flood. 48 lakh 69 thousand 299 people were affected. And in this sudden flood, 15 people including two women have died in the last four days.

Secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief. Kamrul Hasan gave this information in a press briefing at the meeting room of the ministry yesterday. Later, a press release was also sent from the press wing of the interim government's chief adviser.

According to the Press Wing of the Chief Adviser, the districts affected by the flood are – Feni, Comilla, Chittagong, Khagrachari, Noakhali, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Brahmanbaria, Sylhet, Laxmipur and Cox's Bazar.

77 upazilas and 589 union-municipalities of the country have been affected by the flood. Four people died in Comilla, one in Feni, four in Chittagong, one in Noakhali, one in Brahmanbaria, one in Laxmipur and three in Cox's Bazar.
