Extortion in the identity of journalist in Bogra


A case has been filed in the name of 4 people including 3 journalists who were arrested on charges of extortion by going to an educational institution and a community clinic in Sherpur of Bogra. Apart from this, 2/3 more people have been made unknown accused in the case. Farzana Islam, head teacher of Shubli High School of Sherpur Upazila, filed the case as the plaintiff on Monday night. Later today they were sent to jail through the court.

The accused in the case are Abdul Halim son of deceased Yakub Hossain of Gabtali upazila of Bogura, Muktar Sheikh son of Rustam Ali Sheikh of Shibbati area of ​​Bogura city, Rayhan Parvez son of Siraj Uddin deceased of Uttarsahapara of Sherpur upazila and Ghughu Battala of Sherpur Gholagadi area. Masood.

Earlier on Monday (September 2) at 11 a.m., Masud Parvez, Bogra district representative of Alokita Sakal newspaper along with the said three journalists went to Shuboli High School. When they went there, they inquired and interrogated the teachers about the eucalyptus tree cut 2 years ago from behind the school. Then the teachers told them that no one in the school had cut the tree. That tree did not belong to the school. It was on private property. A man named Abel, the owner of that place, cut down his tree himself. Then they left the teachers' room and went to Abel's house and asked Abel to show him his land deeds. Then Abel asked them to go to the school and wait for time to show the documents. Those 4 went to the school and approached the headmaster. Then yesterday the headmaster cross-examined him regarding his absence from school and asked if he had given any application for leave and wanted to see the application. At that time, the head teacher told them that because one of his relatives had died, he had spoken to the upazila education officer and taken verbal leave. Then they demanded 10 thousand rupees. They threatened to press charges against the head teacher if they did not pay the subscription. Later, when the matter came to light, local people and students went to the school. Some of the local people may recognize them, they extorted money from two institutions in Sherpur yesterday. On Monday, they were owed some more money from the two institutions. They were supposed to come to collect that money today. Later, tension arose between the people present at the scene regarding yesterday's extortion and today's extortion. At this time, they detained the alleged journalists with mass washing. Later, when three alleged journalists named Abu Bakkar Siddique, Masud and Setu of Sherpur went to take them away from there, the excited people mobbed Abu Bakkar. At this time, Setu and Masud escaped. Later, the people gave the three people to the police.

It is known that yesterday, including the three alleged journalists, Abu Bakkar, Setu, Masud and Liton, a total of 7 people extorted Tk 6500 from Sherpur Upazila Shubli Community Clinic and Tk 1000 from Husnabad Government Primary School by various threats. While leaving, they said on Monday that they have to pay another 20,000 rupees from Shubli Community Clinic today and another 10,000 rupees from Husnabad Government School.

Confirming the matter of the case, Sherpur police station officer in-charge (OC) Rezaul Karim said that the arrestees have been sent to jail through the court today.
