Extortion using our name: Hasnat Abdullah

Hasnat Abdullah, coordinator of anti-discrimination student movement, said, 'Extortion is being done in many places using our name. The case is being filed by forging signatures. We have nothing to do with them.'

Anti-discrimination student movement coordinators Sarjis Alam and Hasnat Abdullah came to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) office in Segunbagicha on Thursday (August 29) afternoon. They met the ACC chairman. Later they spoke to the media.

Coordinator Hasnat Abdullah said, 'We are getting information that our name is being used to take advantage in illegal ways. They have no legal authority, to give benefits to anyone or to take benefits themselves.'

Hasnat Abdullah commented that the ACC will operate according to the ACC law. He said, ACC has come to clarify this matter so that no one can take any advantage by using their (anti-discrimination student movement) name. Meanwhile, in front of the ACC office in the afternoon, some people formed a human chain to demand the resignation of the chairman of the organization, Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah.

Coordinator Sarjis Alam said, 'We have told the ACC that for the last 16 years this fascist government has harassed those it did not like with false cases. Some have problems with their families, false cases have been filed, some have had problems with land deposits, false cases have been filed. I have said that so that it does not happen. And so that no political party can harass anyone with a false case, I have said that.'
