Fake notes of Tk 1 lakh sold for 15 thousand


RAB arrested three members along with various equipments including laptop, printer used to make counterfeit notes and fake notes worth Tk 20 lakhs in the surrounding area including Durgam Charmohan of Naria upazila of Shariatpur district. RAB said that the gang had entered the field with a plan to release a large amount of fake money in the market targeting Eid-ul-Fitr.

This information was given by RAB-3 captain Lt. Colonel Arif Mohiuddin Ahmed.

The arrested persons are the owner of fake notes making and business circles. Arif Bepari (20), one of his main associates and an active member of the circle. Zahid (23) and Anik (19).

Lt. Colonel Arif Mohiuddan Ahmed said, Arif Bepari (20) is a photocopy shop employee by profession. First, he bought a machine for making fake money with his own income. After that, Anik, a mason, and Zahid, a fisherman of Padma river, started trying to make fake money.

After watching YouTube and trying for a long time, they finally succeeded. After that, the buyer collects by posting fake money for sale at low price in different groups of social media Facebook. 7-8 days ago they provided a fake note challan of 12 lakh rupees. From here they earn one and a half lakh taka.

On Wednesday (March 27) night raids were conducted and they were arrested along with fake notes worth Tk 20 lakh and various devices including laptops, printers used in making fake money.

He also said that preparations were made to supply a large amount of fake notes to the market targeting Eid-ul-Fitr. They used to sell fake notes of 1 lakh rupees for 10 to 12 thousand rupees. Due to the increase in the demand for fake notes on the occasion of Eid, they now start selling fake notes at 15,000 taka per 1 lakh taka.

Lt. Colonel Arif said that most of the people working in various printing presses in Bangla Bazaar of the capital are from Shariatpur district. As a result, based on the sources of Arif's acquaintances, he came to Bangla Bazaar in the capital several times and got a proper idea about printing. From that idea, Puran Dhaka buys raw materials like paint, ink and paper needed to make fake money.
