Eagles legend Jason Kelce’s wife Kylie Kelce shared her thoughts on Harrison Butker’s faith-based commencement speech at Benedictine College, which stirred significant debate a few weeks ago.
The Kansas City Chiefs kicker’s Saturday, May 11 speech encouraged women graduates to embrace being “homemakers,” prompting criticism for seemingly diminishing women’s roles. When asked about the speech, Kylie, who was participating in an Eagles Autism Foundation event, emphasized the importance of respecting differing opinions.
“Everyone is entitled to their own opinion,” she said in an interview with Cheddar posted on Thursday, June 11. “Those women graduating have achieved something that no one can take away from them. Their education will stick with them for the rest of their lives. I hope that they were appropriately celebrated if that was not their view. If it was, and they’re looking forward to making a family and being a stay-at-home mom, then more power to them.”

The 32-year-old continued, letting the graduates know that she’s proud of their accomplishments: “I think, as women, we should support each other in our choices and make sure that we feel as though we can do whatever we would like to do… So, hopefully, those graduating know that, at the very least, I’m very proud of them and hope that they go on to do whatever makes their heart happy.”
Fans quickly flocked to the video, which was also posted to X (formerly known as Twitter), posting nice comments commending her response like “Kylie for President fr,” and “she is a queen the epitome of class.”

Butker defended his remarks at the Courage Under Fire Gala on Friday, May 24, confirming his commitment to his beliefs despite becoming a “more polarizing” figure. “Our love for Jesus, and thus, our desire to speak out, should never be outweighed by the longing of our fallen nature to be loved by the world,” he stated.
Chiefs star Travis Kelce, also Jason’s brother and Kylie’s brother-in-law, defended Butker as well, seemingly vouching for his character on the New Heights podcast. “I cherish him as a teammate. I think Pat [Mahomes] said it best where he is every bit of a great person and a great teammate.”
