Farzana Rupa and Shakeel Ahmed were detained at the airport

Dismissed Chief Reporter and Presenter Farzana Rupa of Ekatar TV and Dismissed Chief News Editor Shakeel Ahmed were detained from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

They were detained by immigration authorities on Wednesday (August 21) morning. At that time their daughter was also with them. Later they were handed over to the officials of the intelligence department of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

Rupa and Shakeel went to the airport to board a Turkish Airlines flight (TK-713) to Paris, France via Istanbul. The immigration police did not allow them to go abroad as they did not get clearance from the City SB.

According to the decision and instructions of the management authority of Ekatar Media Limited on August 8, Rupa-Shakil was fired.
