Formation of 'Democratic Rights Committee' with representatives of various classes and professions

The Democratic Rights Committee has been formed with more than a hundred people including teachers, students, writers, journalists, artists, lawyers, doctors and people from various professions in the society. This committee will work against any action against taking away democratic rights and freedom of expression.

This committee was formed by convening Emeritus Professor Sirajul Islam Chowdhury from a meeting at Dhaka University's TSC cafeteria on Thursday (August 22).

A press release signed by Samina Lutfa Nitra, joint convener of the committee, informed about the formation of this committee.

According to the notification, this platform will work for all kinds of democratic demands, including ensuring the democratic rights and freedom of expression of all citizens of the hills and plains, to cancel repressive and anti-people laws, to ensure the independence of the judiciary, to protect the rights of workers and farmers and to ensure occupation-free democratic campuses. .

According to the Committee on Democratic Rights, fascism is re-established after every popular uprising. Achievement failed at the cost of human lives. This mass uprising cannot be allowed to fail.

Therefore, a united platform of all the forces participating in the democratic movement is essential. So this committee has been formed. The committee has Prof. Haroon-ur-Rashid, Abdullah Kafi Ratan, Prof. Tanjimuddin Khan, Seema Dutt, Maha Mirza and Kallol Mustafa as joint conveners.
