Former Chief Whip of Jatiya Sangsad AS Feroze has been arrested by the police. He was arrested from Banani in the capital on Friday (August 23) night. Media and Public Relations Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has informed this information. However, no details were given as to why he was arrested in any case.
This Awami League leader was elected member of National Parliament eight times. He won from Patuakhali-2 (Baufal) constituency in the last January 7 election.
It is to be noted that in the 23rd session of the 11th National Parliament, A.S.M. Feroze also managed the parliament sitting in the speaker's seat as the 1st panel speaker.
Awami League and its allied and fraternal leaders went into hiding after Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country on August 5 in the face of the student movement. Former ministers, government officials and people holding various important positions of the state are in the list of absconding. Some of them are being arrested.
