Former Jubo League leader arrested in Baralekha

Former General Secretary of Baralekha Upazila Jubo League Abdul Qadir (55) of Moulvibazar district has been arrested by joint forces. He was arrested in a raid at his house in Talimpur village of the upazila on Thursday (September 05) at 11 pm. He was sent to jail by the court on Friday (September 6). Son of deceased Asab Uddin of Talimpur village of Kadir Upazila.

Baralekha police station OC Sanjay Chakraborty said on Friday evening, “Jubileeg leader Abdul Qadir has been arrested by joint forces. He admitted to the joint forces that he had weapons. But the weapon could not be recovered. He was sent to jail today by the court.'

Jubo League leader Abdul Qadir's son Mahi Hasan Niloy said, 'There is no case against my father. On Thursday night the army came to our house and asked my father to go to the camp. Then when my father came out of the house, they beat him. At that time, our house was searched for weapons. But they did not get the weapon. Later my father was taken away. Meanwhile, our CCTV camera was vandalized.

According to police sources, Abdul Qadir, the former General Secretary of Upazila Jubo League, who was arrested in the operation of the joint forces, was handed over to the police after his arrest. On Friday morning, he was arrested and sent to jail as a suspect in a case filed by a leader of the Upazila Municipal Youth Party. On August 23, the co-organizing secretary of Baralekha Paur Jubodal, Nurul Islam Tafadar filed the case as the plaintiff. On January 5, 2015, during the Genocide Day and the black flag march, which was announced by the Center to protest the disappearance, murder and torture of BNP leaders and activists, the former Minister of Environment, Forests and Climate Change in Baralekha Upazila attacked BNP leaders and activists. He filed the case naming Shahab Uddin as the main accused and 38 leaders and activists of the Upazila Awami League-Youth League-Volunteer League and Chhatra League.
