Former state minister-MP including 3 arrested

Former Minister of State for Liberation War Affairs Captain (Retd) AB Tajul Islam, Awami League Organizing Secretary and former Member of Parliament Ahmad Hossain and former RAB spokesperson Rear Admiral (Retd) M Sohail have been arrested.

They were arrested in separate raids in the capital on Tuesday (August 20) night.

According to sources of Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police, a police team arrested Tajul Islam from his house in Gulshan at night. Another team arrested Awami League's organizing secretary Ahmed Hossain from Rampura Banshri area. Besides, Sohail was arrested from Banani. The detectives took 3 people to the DB office of Mintu Road at night. It is reported that they may be produced in court on Wednesday (August 21) seeking remand.

It should be noted that Captain (retd.) Tajul Islam was the Member of Parliament for Brahmanbaria-6 Constituency for four consecutive terms since 2008. Earlier he became MP from the same constituency in 1996. In 2009, he served as the Minister of State for Liberation War in the Cabinet of Sheikh Hasina.
