Fugitive accused sentenced to life in Bogra murder case arrested

RAB has arrested the absconding accused who was sentenced to life in Bogra murder case. He was arrested from Safipur area of ​​Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur last Friday night.

Arrested accused Shamim Raju. He is the son of deceased Chanaullah Gachu of Sheuli Gachupara area of ​​Shibganj upazila of Bogra. RAB-12 Bogra Company Commander Superintendent of Police Mir Monir Hossain confirmed this information.

This RAB official said that Shamim Raju bought a paddy land from Anichur Rahman in 2006. Shamim Raju grows paddy on that land and asks Anishur to come to his house after harvesting the paddy on December 1 to fetch the shared paddy. Later Shamim Raju went to Anichur's house in the evening with the paddy. While at his house, Shamim kills Reza Anichur. Later the deceased's brother Ah Aziz filed a murder case. After a long hearing, on November 30, 2023, the court sentenced the accused Shamim Reza to life imprisonment and six months imprisonment without paying a fine of ten thousand rupees.

He also said that in the preliminary investigation, the accused in this case, Shamim Reza, was released on bail after serving 3 years and 6 months in jail and started living in disguise. Besides, he used to drive auto rickshaws in disguise in Gazipur area without anyone's knowledge to avoid arrest. The accused will be handed over to Shibganj police station to take legal action.
