Gautama Buddha preached the message of non-violence to establish peace and harmony


Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that Mahamati Gautam Buddha preached the message of non-violence, equality, friendship and compassion for the welfare of people and for establishing peace and harmony in the society. In a message given on the occasion of Buddha Purnima on Wednesday (May 22), he said, it is necessary to follow the teachings of Buddha in today's world to suppress the violent brute force, prevent the degradation of values ​​and build a peaceful society.

On the occasion of Buddha Purnima, the Prime Minister extended his sincere greetings to the Buddhist community of the country and said that the Awami League government is determined to uphold the non-communal spirit. In our Constitution framed by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, equal rights of people of all religions and castes have been guaranteed.

He said, we believe 'Religion belongs to everyone, festival belongs to everyone'. The development of people of all classes, professions and communities is our main goal.

The Prime Minister said that Mahamati Gautam Buddha enlightened the human world through his life and actions by overcoming greed, hatred and lust. He was inspired by ideals of truth and beauty.

He said, we are working to ensure dignified and safe living of people of all communities. Buddhists have been participating equally in the socio-economic development activities of Bangladesh for ages. I hope that everyone will play a role in making Bangladesh a peaceful country by holding and cherishing the ideals of Gautam Buddha.

On the occasion of Buddha Purnima, the Prime Minister wished the countrymen happiness, peace and welfare.
