The police has applied to remand Haji Mohammad Salim, former Member of Parliament of Dhaka-7 Constituency and Awami League leader, for 10 days in the murder case of Khalid Hasan Saifullah, a first year student of the capital's Ideal College.
The remand hearing will be held in Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aktaruzzaman's court on Monday (September 2) in his presence.
Earlier, a team of detective police arrested him from Banshal area of Old Dhaka on Sunday (September 1) midnight.
According to the complaint of the case, Khalid Hasan Saifullah, a first year student of Ideal College, was shot dead on July 18 in Lalbagh's Azimpur government residential area during the anti-discrimination student movement.
In this incident, his father Kamrul Hasan filed a murder case at Lalbagh police station on August 19.
