Hanging body of student recovered in Bagerhat

The police recovered the body of a college student named Anika Sultana Nishi (20) in Fakirhat Upazila of Bagerhat. According to the family, she committed suicide by hanging a veil on the floor of the house.

Nishi, a final year nursing student at Khulna Gazi Medical College Hospital, is the daughter of Sheikh Ariful Islam of Jaipur village in Fakirhat upazila.

Fakirhat Model Police Station Sub-Assistant Inspector (SI) Abdul Alim said that early on Saturday, the family members found Nishi with a veil tied around his neck with a veil attached to the door of the house. He was immediately rescued and brought to the Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty there declared him dead. On receiving the information, the police visited the spot. After arriving at the hospital and preparing the initial condition report, the body was recovered.

Sheikh Ariful Islam, the father of the victim, said that a year ago Anika Sultana Nishi was with Khulna East Baniakhamar area. She was married to Sirajul Islam's son Gazi Tanzim Shahed Sami alias Jonaid. After a few days of marriage, the husband started to get angry. As a result of this, she may commit suicide out of contempt for her husband.

Meanwhile, the day before the incident i.e. Friday was their wedding anniversary, he said.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Fakirhat Model Police Station. Ashraful Alam said, the body was recovered and sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. The body will be handed over to the family after legal proceedings. However, the post-mortem report will reveal how he actually died.
