Heavy rains and floods in June

The Department of Meteorology has given a glimpse that there may be heavy rains in the country in this month of June. The heavy rains may also cause short-term flooding, the agency said.

The Meteorological Department has predicted short-term floods this month as the effects of Cyclone Remal continue.

This information was reported in the month-long forecast of the Meteorological Department on Sunday (June 2).

According to the Meteorological Department, due to heavy rains, short-term flooding may occur in some parts of northern, northeastern, southern and southeastern parts of the country. Light to moderate thunderstorms may occur in the country for four to six days this month.

According to the forecast, in the first half of the first week of this month, southwest monsoon (monsoon) will prevail over the country and one to two low pressures may develop, one of which may develop into a monsoon depression. One to two isolated mild (36-38°C) to moderate (38-40°C) heatwaves may occur in the country during this month. Day and night temperatures may be slightly higher than normal during this month.

The country as a whole is likely to receive normal rainfall during the month of June. Southwest Monsoon (monsoon) is likely to prevail over the country during the first half of the first week of this month. In this month, there may be 4 to 6 days of mild to moderate thunderstorms in the country. Apart from this, the country can have an average of 6 to 8 hours of bright sunshine per day in the month of June.
