Heavy rains and landslides have caused flooding in Yemen's western province of Al Hudaydah. In this sudden natural disaster, at least 84 people have died and 25 others have been injured in different areas of the province.
Saba News Agency, the media associated with the ruling Houthi rebel group in the western part of the country, confirmed this information in a report yesterday on August 30. The report also said that the entrance to Al Hudaydah City, the provincial capital, was also submerged in flood water. In addition, thousands of houses were submerged in various villages and towns of the province, infrastructure and agriculture were severely damaged, and roads and road communication networks were destroyed in many areas.
Al Hudaydah has been flooded since the beginning of August. So far there is no sign of water receding.
Incidentally, flash floods have started in different parts of Yemen since last July due to heavy rains. According to the United Nations, more than 250,000 people were displaced in the country from last July to August due to flash floods.
