A drone launched by the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah exploded, injuring 18 Israelis. Among them, 14 are army personnel and 4 are civilians. The drone exploded on Wednesday (April 17) at a community center in the village of Arab al-Aramshi on Israel's northern border. News Times of Israel.
Authorities at the local Galilee Medical Center said one of the people injured in the attack was in critical condition. Two others were seriously injured.
Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for the attack. They said they targeted a building used by the Israeli army. Missiles and explosive-laden drones were used in the attack. Hezbollah said the attack was carried out in retaliation for the Israeli attack in southern Lebanon a day earlier that killed three members, including two commanders.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported several casualties in border settlements. However, they did not immediately give any information about the injured in the attack. Media reports said a vehicle was also attacked near the affected community center.
Video footage circulating on social media showed the explosive-laden drone landing on the community center and detonating.
Hezbollah has been attacking Israel's border for the past six months since Israel launched an attack on Gaza in Palestine. Sometimes they are firing rockets, sometimes drones and anti-tank missiles from the Lebanese border. Hezbollah has been saying that these attacks were carried out in solidarity with the people of Gaza.
