Holy Shabbat will be celebrated across the country on Tuesday (February 3) with due religious dignity. This night between the 14th and 15th of the Hijri month of Sha'ban is known to Muslims as 'Shaba Barat' or 'Lailatul Barat'βthe night of good fortune. On this occasion, next Wednesday (February 4) will be a public holiday.
On the occasion of Holy Shabbat, the chief advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus gave the message. In his speech, he took Shaba Barat as an extraordinary opportunity to receive Allah's mercy and urged people to pray for the welfare of the country and the nation and devote themselves to human welfare.
The chief adviser said, it is possible to get nearness and forgiveness of Almighty Allah through worship, charity, self-criticism and repentance on this glorious night. By purifying oneself from sins and leading one's life in the right way one can attain the infinite grace, blessings and forgiveness of Allah Ta'ala.
On the occasion of Shabbat Barat, various programs including recitation of Holy Quran, Hamad-Na'at, Waj and Dua Mahfil have been organized at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque today (February 3) on the initiative of Islamic Foundation.
After Maghrib prayers on Tuesday, the program will begin with Waj Mahfil. Khatib Mufti Maulana Nazrul Islam Qasemi of Dhaka's Badamtali Shahzada Lane Jame Masjid will discuss the virtues, importance and significance of Lailatul Barat at 6:30 pm. At 8:30 p.m., the adviser to the Ministry of Religion. AFM Khalid Hossain will preach on education, do's and don'ts of Lailatul Barat. Baitul Mukarram National Mosque will remain open for worshipers throughout the night. After the Fajr prayer, the Shabbat ceremony will conclude with the last prayer. The final prayer will be conducted by Senior Pesh Imam Maulana Muhammad Mizanur Rahman.
Apart from this, Waj and Dua Mahfil will be held at various places including Islamic Foundation's Divisional and District Office, Islamic Mission Center and Imam Training Academy on the occasion of Holy Shaba Barat. Special religious programs will be broadcast on Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar and private TV and radio channels.
On this holy night, Muslims will pray for the mercy, nearness, happiness, peace and prosperity of Almighty Allah through Nafal Namaz, Quran recitation, Zikir, Waj and Milad Mahfil.
