HSC routine may be cancelled, new decision is coming


The exams, which were postponed due to the quota reform movement, were supposed to start from August 11, but did not. These exams are scheduled to start one month later from September 11. However, candidates do not want to sit for the exam. Many demand autopass. Students have been holding human chain, protest and sit-in programs across the country including Dhaka for several days.

Yesterday, Monday (August 19), the examinees stayed at the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board throughout the day. Board Chairman Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar informed the Ministry of Education about the students' demands around noon.

The new senior secretary who joined the ministry in the afternoon. Sheikh Abdur Rashid is said to have given verbal instructions to the board chairman to cancel the routine. After that, in a speech addressed to the students gathered in the board premises, the examination controller of the Dhaka board announced the cancellation of the new routine. And he assured the students that the decision of Autopass can be announced by the Chief Adviser.

Exam controller Professor Abul Bashar told the students that the education secretary has given a verbal order to cancel the routine that was published for taking the exam from September 11. That means the routine will be cancelled.

About giving autopass, he said, 'This matter is not in my jurisdiction. The Chief Counsel has informed you of this matter. Chief Advisor, Education Advisor, Secretary will hold the meeting. From there they want to announce about your matter. Not just routine cancellations. We will write down the other demands you have and send them to the ministry. As far as I know, the decision will be in your favor.'

When asked, President of Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and Chairman of Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar told the media that some verbal instructions have been given after informing the students' demands to the ministry. A meeting is scheduled to be held on Tuesday (August 20) regarding that. Principal Advisor, Education Advisor, Education Secretary, Board Chairman can participate there. Everything will be final there.

It should be noted that the HSC and equivalent exams started on June 30. After 8 days of examinations as per routine, all examinations on July 18 were postponed due to the situation surrounding the quota reform movement. After that, the government suspended the examination for three more rounds.
