Husband and wife die in fox trap in Ankh field

A husband and wife died due to electrocution in ankh fields in Tangail's Ghatail to prevent theft and trap leaves for foxes. The accident took place in Amtala village of Rasulpur union of the upazila on Sunday (August 25) morning.

The deceased are farmer Arshed Ali (65), son of deceased Naeem Uddin, and his wife Rahima Begum (52), of Amtala village in Rasulpur union of Ghatail upazila.

Locals said that the farmer cultivated ankh next to Arshed Ali's house. So that no one steals ankh from the field and no foxes can come and destroy the ankh, he keeps electricity connections around the field. Rahima Begum was electrocuted first when she went to the field carelessly without turning off the electricity connection before the incident. When her husband Arshed went to save her, he was also electrocuted. They died on the spot. Later the police came and recovered the two bodies.

Chairman of Rasulpur Union Parishad Kazi Mahbubul Haque Masud said that farmer Arshed kept electricity connection around his field to save his field from destruction. In the morning, they were electrocuted and died. The police came and recovered the body.
