'I believe Dipti would have sheltered him'

The controversial former judge Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik was arrested while fleeing to India through Dana border in Kanighat upazila of Sylhet. He was arrested yesterday Friday (August 23) around 9:30 pm.

The court sent Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik to jail on Saturday (August 24). Earlier, when he was brought to the court premises, the angry crowd pelted him with eggs and shoes.

At this time, some people tried to attack. This incident happened when he was brought to the court premises in a police prison van at around 4 pm that day.

Meanwhile, former Member of Parliament Ghulam Mawla Roni posted a post on his Facebook page about Justice Manik's arrest.

He wrote in his post, 'Justice Manik could have taken refuge in Pratham A Low or Dayli Star office if he wished. He would have been saved even if he went to the Indian embassy with a little difficulty.'

'If there is nothing else, if the presenter of Channel Eye went to Deepti's house and said, I am an old man, I am in danger. Don't drive me away.'

'I believe, Deepti would have forgiven and sheltered a man of her grandfather's age. And in that case, no one in Bangladesh could imagine where Manik Sahib is hiding.'
