Bangladesh won the Rawalpindi Test by 10 wickets against Pakistan. Shakib Al Hasan has behaved in an undesirable manner in this match. Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan, who was batting, was unprepared, but Shakib bowled the ball over his head. For this reason, he was fined 10 percent of the match fee. Besides, 1 demerit point has also been added to his name for breaching level-1 of the ICC Code of Conduct.
Shakib received this punishment as per Section 2.9 of the ICC's 'ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel'. It reads, 'Throwing the ball (or cricket equipment, such as a water bottle) at a player, umpire, match referee or any third person during an international match is inappropriate and dangerous behaviour.'
Meanwhile, Bangladesh and Pakistan cricket teams have also been punished in the Rawalpindi Test. Both teams were penalized for slow overrates. Pakistan team is 6 overs behind in Test, while Bangladesh team is 3 overs behind. As a result, Pakistan were fined 30 percent of their match fee and Bangladesh 15 percent.
Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Pakistan captain Shan Masood have accepted this ICC punishment. Therefore, there is no need for a separate formal hearing.
Not only the match fee, but also the points deducted from the 'World Test Championship 2023-25' for the two teams. Pakistan lost 6 points and Bangladesh lost 3 points. However, as a result, Pakistan's position in the points list of the 'World Test Championship 2023-25' has not changed. As usual, they are in the eighth position. But Bangladesh has deteriorated. After winning the match yesterday, Bangladesh climbed to the sixth place, but today, Bangladesh dropped a step to the seventh place. South Africa moved up to sixth place.
