An autorickshaw driver named Zubair Alam Mana (35) was killed in a head-on collision between a private car and an autorickshaw in Ishwardi, Pabna. The accident took place in front of Gokulnagar Eye Hospital on Ishwardi-Baneshwar Regional Road of Upazila just before Iftar in the evening on Saturday (March 30).
The deceased is the son of deceased Sona Mia of Piarakhali area of Mana town.
Locals said that the rickshaw driver Mana was going to his home from Gokulnagar for Iftar around 6 pm. On the way, his auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a private car belonging to Nikith Company, the contractor of Rooppur Nuclear Power Project.
Mana was rescued in critical condition and taken to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.
Confirming the matter, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Ishwardi Police Station Dola Parveen said that one person died in the accident. However, no one else was seriously injured. The body is in police custody. The private car has been impounded in this incident.
