In 10 districts, 3.6 million people were trapped in water, 8 were killed

The flood situation has worsened in 10 districts of the country. Unprecedented floods are causing panic among the people of the region. Apart from this, the flood situation has worsened in Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Moulvibazar, Khagrachari, Habiganj, Brahmanbaria and Laxmipur districts. 3.6 million people in these areas have become waterlogged. Due to continuous rains and water coming down from India, water is rising in these areas. At least 15 kilometers of the highway in Comilla and Feni sections of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway have been submerged in one to one and a half feet of water.

8 people have died so far. Among them there are 4 in Comilla, one in Feni and one in Brahmanbaria and two in Cox's Bazar.

Meanwhile, due to lack of adequate boats and other rescue vehicles, it has become difficult to take these people trapped in water to safe shelter. From Thursday afternoon, army, navy, air force, law enforcement forces including BGB and various political, social and private organizations are working to rescue the flood victims with their best efforts. The government has also taken various initiatives besides calling to stand by the flood victims.

In the last 36 years, Feni did not have to face such a terrible situation. In this flood, 90 percent of the three upazilas of Feni have been flooded and everything has been destroyed. 495 unions of 65 upazilas of 10 districts have been affected by floods. A total of 82 thousand 694 people and 7 thousand 755 cattle have been sheltered in the shelters. Due to flooding of roads and railways, rail and road communication with Chittagong has been severed across the country. Due to the deterioration of the flood situation, the rail communication with Cox's Bazar has been announced to be closed across the country.
