In August 222 million dollars remittance, not a single rupee came to 8 banks

In the month of August, 222 crore 13 lakh US dollars remittances have arrived in the country. However, no remittance has come to 8 banks operating in the country. This includes state-owned banks. This information is known from the update of Bangladesh Bank on Sunday (September 1).

It is said that the number of banks which did not receive any remittance in the month of August is 8. These include 1 state-owned bank, 1 specialized bank, 3 private banks and 3 foreign banks.

In August, no remittances came to the state-owned Bangladesh Development Bank or BDBL, the specialized sector Rajshahi Krishi Unyaan Bank or Rakab and the private sector Community Bank, Padma Bank and ICB Islami Bank. Apart from this, no remittance has come from foreign sector Habib Bank, National Bank of Pakistan and State Bank of India.

According to the central bank, 383.46 million dollars came through the state-owned banks in August. Besides, 7 crore 81 lakh 20 thousand dollars came through specialized banks, 175 crore 55 lakh 40 thousand dollars through private banks and 47 lakh 10 thousand dollars through foreign sector banks.

Bangladesh Bank also said that from August 25 to 31, remittances of 50 million 29 lakh 90 thousand dollars have arrived in the country. From August 18 to 24, expatriates sent remittances to the country worth 584.1 million 10 thousand dollars. From August 11 to 17, remittances of 40 million 44 million 10 thousand dollars have arrived in the country.

Besides, 38 crore 71 lakh 20 thousand US dollars remittance came to the country from 4 to 10 August. And from August 1 to 3, expatriates sent remittances to the country worth 9.56 million 50 thousand dollars.

Earlier, after remittances of $253.86 million in June last year, the remittances in the first month of the current financial year came in at around $191 million, which was the lowest in the last 10 months. However, the situation began to normalize after the formation of the interim government.
