21 madrasa students were reported injured in a lightning strike at Nagarkanda in Faridpur. The incident took place at Madinatul Ulum Madrasa in Upazila Sadar on Monday (May 6) evening.
The injured students are class III students of Noorani section of the madrasa. Among them, 11 students have been admitted to Upazila Health Complex.
Mohtamim Maulana Keramat Ali of the institution confirmed the truth of the incident to the media.
He said that the students were standing on the balcony of the madrasa building during the rain on Monday evening. Then lightning struck the madrasa field. 21 students standing on the balcony were injured.
He also said that the teachers of the madrasa, other students took the injured to Nagarkanda Upazila Health Complex. 10 people were released after first treatment there.
Of the rest, 11 including Mujahid, Shamiul, Oliullah, Rezaul, Mustakim, Sajim, Abdur Rahman, Maruf, Hossain, Bayezid and Riyad were admitted to the hospital.
