India banned the entry of various products, including Bangladeshi clothing through the port

India has banned the entry of several products, including Bangladeshi clothing through its own port. The country said on Saturday (May 7th) that these products could be brought from Bangladesh only through Nahava Sheva and Kolkata sea port. However, the ban will not be effective in the products that will be exported to Nepal and Bhutan through India.

India has issued strict restrictions on the entry of Bangladeshi goods through the northeast land ports. As a result of this decision, the export of various products, including the garment made by Bangladesh, is virtually stopped.

The Hindustan Times reported this in a report on Saturday (May 7th).

The Indian media says, under the new ban, at any tariff points in Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram – as well as Fruit with Changabandha and Fulbari Customs Points in West Bengal, fruit flavored drinks, carbonated drinks, processed foods, cotton products, plastic products.

According to the new decision, these products can now only pass through Kolkata port in West Bengal or Nava Sheva port in Maharashtra.

However, the ban will not be effective in the field of fish, LPG, edible oil and crushed stones through the land port.

New restrictions were imposed on Bangladeshi consumer goods more than five weeks after the ongoing agreement was canceled for almost five years to transport Bangladeshi export goods to the third country using the airport and port of India. New restrictions have been implemented immediately.

Hindustan Times says India's new restrictions on restricting Bangladeshi exports seem to be in response to not allowing some value-added products to enter the country with transit points from the northeast.

India alleges that Bangladesh has been unilaterally accessible to the Indian market for a long time but did not provide similar benefits for Indian products. An official of the Indian Commerce Ministry said the decision was to bring back the balance of trade with Bangladesh. You have to run on the basis of mutuality, otherwise a unilateral concession is no more.

India has also complained that Bangladesh is taking a fee of Tk. 5 per ton per kilometer for the use of transit, where the internal rate of the country is zero per tonne. They also claimed that the industrial sector in the northeast of India was severely damaged.

As a result of this ban, multiple exports including garments, plastic, melamine, furniture, juice, soft drinks, bakery and processed food in Bangladesh will be prevented from sending multiple exports to India. The most push will be in the readymade garment sector, where about $ 1 million goods are exported to India every year.
