Instructions to the Standing Committee to Counter Rumors on Social Media


The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued necessary instructions to counter rumors spread through social media.

This instruction was given in the meeting of the Standing Committee on Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of the 12th National Parliament held on Sunday (April 21).

Apart from this, the meeting recommended the ministry to highlight the current government's development projects through constructive news dissemination.

Chairman of the committee Kazi Keramat Ali MP presided over the meeting held at the parliament building, the committee member and Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat MP, Md. Shibli Sadiq MP, Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman MP, Ali Azam MP, Abul Kalam. Ahsanul Haque Chowdhury MP and Md. Afzal Hossain MP participated.

The meeting reviewed the progress of implementation of the decisions of the previous meeting. In the meeting, there was discussion about the ongoing activities of Bangladesh Television and the allocation of Khatwari funds of Bangladesh Television Dhaka and Chittagong centers for the past financial years.

Meanwhile, the committee was informed about the steps taken by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to implement the fair and balanced advertisement distribution policy.

In the meeting, the great architect of independent Bangladesh, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib and all the martyrs who died on August 15th, and all the martyrs who sacrificed themselves in the freedom movement at all levels including the great liberation war and language movement, paid deep respect to the memory.

Senior Secretary of Information and Broadcasting Ministry, Additional Secretary, Director General of Bangladesh Television, officials of various levels of Information and Broadcasting Ministry, BTV officials and related senior officials of National Parliament Secretariat were present in the meeting.
